Behind the leather is a heart of gold. Gilbert Guardiola, “Lil Daddy”, proudly wears the current banner of Mr. Eagle Wilton Manors. However, he wants to introduce himself as more than a title-holder. He is a survivor, philanthropist, volunteer, workaholic, and a mariachi singer.
Gilbert arrived in Fort Lauderdale almost two years ago. Vacationing from Dallas, TX, he decided it was time for a change and a challenge. He did not return to Texas even to pack his belongings. Since then, he has worked as an Eagle security guard and as a bartender at Rebel Wine Bar in Oakland Park. A self-proclaimed workaholic, Gilbert has yet to enjoy Fort Lauderdale Beach more than once! Lil Daddy carried the titles of Mr. Hidden Door and Mr.TBRU Cub 24 while in Dallas. He also began his dedication to volunteering in Dallas at age 17. He now happily serves with Midland Cares promoting health, wellness, and disease prevention in Broward County and FlockFest which provides donations to local charities.
Lil Daddy says, “I never wanted the recognition, but Mr. Eagle allows me to take the title and use it as a voice to unite the community, to fight for equality. To help me accomplish this goal, include yourself as much as possible in volunteering and philanthropy.”
As Mr. Eagle, Lil Daddy became a candidate for International Mr. Leather in May 2023 where he Pride-fully placed 5th. On the experience, he says, “It was an emotional roller coaster, good and bad, where I met wonderful people who have platforms to share with the world. They have become my family.” All of Wilton Manors is proud of our Mr. Eagle.
When asked about the leather lifestyle, Gilbert says the parameters of leather are evolving and growing, but “always a feeling of enjoyment while expressing your personality through leather.” And wear it perfectly he does.
In addition to representing Mr. Eagle, working, and volunteering, Gilbert enjoys painting, drawing, arts and crafts, and mariachi singing. He often may be found in the karaoke lineup at Hunter’s or Scandals Saloon.
Lil Daddy has two goals for the future: to unite the Latino leather community and to encourage LGBTQA+ youth with the advice of “become involved, educate yourself, and surround yourself by people who can challenge you because that’s how you grow.”
Lil Daddy’s parting words should be creed for all, “Love, kindness, compassion, and respect; you never know whose blessing you may be or life you may change.”
