Broward House Announces Plans for Their Assisted Living Facility Grand Reopening & Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

Broward House is thrilled to announce their Assisted Living Facility Grand Reopening & Ribbon Cutting Ceremony will take place on Friday, April 12, 2024, at 7:00pm to unveil their new home for healing.

Broward House is inviting donors and community members to celebrate the long-awaited reopening of its facility after the devastating impact of Fort Lauderdale’s historic flood, exactly a year ago.

In honor of this special occasion, there will be a ribbon cutting ceremony and tours of the facility! The community will have the opportunity to walk through the renovated 74-bed facility, and explore the new support group rooms, nurses station, kitchen, and multipurpose space.

Witness the impact of the generous donations from their Rebuilding Home campaign that helped fund the construction down to the bare studs. See the special engraved plaques displayed on the doors throughout the facility honoring their most generous donors, businesses, and organizations who gave a “Door to Home.”

The Warten Foundation graciously matched the first $250,000 of the Rebuilding Home fundraising campaign to ensure that Broward House reopens its doors and continues to provide safe housing and care for people living with HIV.

“The Warten Foundation has for many years shared a deep belief in the Broward House mission.  After the storm shuttered their major facility, we wanted to ensure they could reopen their doors and continue to provide safe housing, care, and recovery for people living with HIV. Days after the flood, we gave a $250,000 matching gift to what became the Rebuilding Home fundraising campaign.  We are pleased to celebrate the reopening of Broward House with all the donors that generously matched our gift,” says Clifford Cideko, Chairman of The Warten Foundation.

While Broward House is excited for their grand reopening, they are still seeking donations and support from the community to help close the gaps. Here are a few upcoming events where you can make a difference now:

  • Donate through the Broward House fundraising page of the Florida AIDS Walk, an event that took place at Fort Lauderdale Beach Park last month of which Broward House is a benefiting agency. The AIDS Healthcare Foundation is matching all donations through April 30.
  • Dine out at participating restaurants on Thursday, April 11, the day before their Assisted Living Facility reopens, through Broward House’s annual Dining Out for Life A record 32 restaurants in Broward County have agreed to give a percentage of their sales for the day back to Broward House.
