AHF Nurses Lead the Way for HIV Care in Ukraine

The AHF Ukraine team has shown steadfast resiliency in the face of war for more than two years, which would not have been possible without its dedicated nurses. Not only has the program been sustained, it has grown to serve more than 77,000 registered clients – a more than 30% increase since the war began in Feb. 2022.

“Our role is to be there for our patients every step of the way, providing not just medical assistance but also emotional support,” said Svitlana Radchenko, a nurse on the AHF Ukraine team. “Through effective communication and empathy, we strive to uphold the highest standards of care, addressing the unique concerns and requirements of each individual under our care.”

Nurses at the team’s Odesa Test & Treat Clinic are pivotal in collaborative decision-making and patient care for HIV. Breaking free from traditional roles, this model embraces people-centered care, empowering nurses to provide holistic and efficient health services.
