Florida Theatrical Association (FTA), the non-profit presenter of Broadway in Orlando, Miami, and Fort Lauderdale, has announced the organization’s new executive board following their 2019 board of directors meeting.

 Michael Goodman was selected to serve as board chair. He will serve for three years, having served the previous three as vice chair. He succeeds Julie Valent, who will remain on the FTA board.

 “We’re so grateful for Julie’s service and contributions over the past few years as FTA continues to grow and expand in our mission,” said Larry Watchorn, FTA executive director. “FTA is fortunate to have such distinguished executives leading us, and we’re confident that under Michael’s direction, FTA will continue to make a positive impact and difference in the arts community throughout the state of Florida.”

 For more than 25 years, Michael Goodman has been supporting the arts in South Florida. He is currently a dedicated board member of Slow Burn Theatre Company and Art & Culture Center Hollywood. He is the current board chair of Neighbors 4 Neighbors. His past board commitments have been on behalf of ArtServe, the City of Wilton Manors, City of Oakland Park, GLBX Council/Greater Fort Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce, Arc Broward, Gilda’s Club and Junior Achievement. He is the recipient of numerous honors such as the 2014 Arts Leader of the Year from Art & Culture Center Hollywood, 2013 Leadership Broward Foundation “Profiles in Leadership” Award, 2007 Encore Award from ArtServe and others from South Florida Business Journal, IABC and more.

 FTA also announced that former board secretary Frank Bolaños, will now serve as vice chair of the board, with Dr. Mary Palmer serving as secretary, and Rhoda Levitt serving as treasurer.

 Other board members include Andrew Calienes, Wendy Connor, Susan Euler, Alex Gonzalez, Debra Weiss Goodstone, George Hoch, Susie Krajsa, Jan McArt, Dr. William Robinson, H. Bryant Sims, Betty Welch, Miles Wilkin, and Joan Javitz Zeeman.
