Keep Your Cool this August

Dear Readers,

It’s been a long, hot summer.  With rising temperatures reaching their peak in August, we’ve come up with some ideas to avoid experiencing “summer meltdown.”  In this month’s issue you’ll find some cool indoor and outdoor things to do to beat the heat.

First, kick back in the air-conditioning and flip through OutClique Magazine to enjoy fascinating articles about people in our community, and discover activities to keep you entertained.

You can stay comfortable indoors with a variety of entertainment including ballet, live theater, Idina Menzel in concert, RuPaul’s Drag Race, and more. You can find details in our magazine about these and other sizzling performances at The Broward Center for the Performing Arts, the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts, ProvinceTown (aka P-Town), RI; and Island City Stage.  You can also enjoy Visit Florida’s Food and Wine Festival titled Pearl Jam by-the Sea at Even Keel Fish Shack.  Let us not forget Pridelines 42nd Anniversary, Queerferno: A Disco Masquerade.

Love the outdoors despite the heat?  Wind down the summer with these cool events. You’ll barely need clothing for Tropical Heat, the hottest annual 5-day party for gay men in Key West.  Celebrate music, food, and the spirit of the Caribbean culture at PrideFête: An LGBTQ+ Caribbean Festival. And, last but not least is Pride Center’s Equality Park After Dark.

We hope you enjoy the rest of summer, and remember to stay safe with these important tips: stay hydrated, wear sunscreen, avoid vigorous outdoor exercise midday, wear light cotton attire and a hat, and please leave your pets at home.

May happiness be abounding.¹
