Award Winning Comedy “The Actors” Featuring Four Carbonell Winners Premieres in South Florida

Wilton Manors Playwright Ronnie Larsen had no idea that his “G”-rated comedy, “The Actors”, would be chosen the winner of “The Hive Collaborative Playwriting Competition” out of Provo, Utah. The Hive’s competition seeks to provide the missing pieces for creative individuals (playwrights) to turn their ideas into finished projects (a staged production.) Hundreds of playwrights submitted entries; Larsen’s play won “Best New Work” and went on to a very successful run in Utah. The Actors” is about a man, so grief-stricken over the loss of both of his parents, he hires actors to play their roles twice a week. It does not go well,” Larsen said. “It’s a show about what happens when the perfect family goes to chaos.  Everyone can relate to this show, because this is what families usually do.” I’ve wanted to bring “The Actors” to Wilton Manors for a long time now. But I just couldn’t amass the perfect cast….until nowWe are lucky enough to have been able to snab some of the most sought-after , highly professional actors and director in South Florida,” Larsen said. This hilarious comedy features four Carbonell winners. (The Carbonells are equivalent of the Tony Awards in South Florida.)  Equity actress Jeni Hacker, who plays the hired Mom, has won several Carbonell awards for “Best Actress,” one of which was for her role as the title character of another Larsen play “Grindr Mom.”  She also went on to win Best Actress in a Musical for her lead role in “Sweeney Todd” and “Passion.” Equity actor David Kwiat, who plays the hired dad, has also won several Carbonell acting awards.  The show is directed by Stuart Meltzer who has won many Carbonells for “Best Direction,” and is one of the most rewarded directors in SouthFlorida.  Meltzer is the Founding Artistic Director of Zoetic Stage. Playwright, Ronnie Larsen, is also a Carbonell Award winner for his play “Grindr Mom,” which won “Best New Play.” Larsen plays the orphan in this show. This is the first “G” rated show, I’ve written and produced.  It features no nudity, no sexual content and no swear words. It’s suitable for audiences of all ages.” Larsen continued. “The Actors”, which runs from September 9th through October 2nd, makes its South Florida premiere at The Foundry, 2306 North Dixie Highway, Wilton Manors. Tickets are $35-$50 and can be purchased at www.PlaysofWilton.com.
