You’re Already a Hair God

By Michael Anthony Ferrara, celebrity stylist and creator of BlowMei

You may not think so right this second as you’re still calming that horrific heartburn from Thursday night’s Long Island Iced Teas in the Alibi parking lot, but you are a Hair God. I have clients come into my salon (Hush Spa & Barber, www.HushFL.com) all the time asking, “So Michael, I want my hair to look like this!” [Cue shirtless photo of Zac Efron.] To which I reply, “Darling, I’m a hairdresser, not a personal fitness coach.” They laugh, of course, because they think I’m just joking when I’m only being serious. Then I let them in on the secret (similar to that book Oprah was raving about years ago, but not). Pay close attention and take notes if you need to because there are just three little things you need to know so you too can be a Hair God!

  1. CLEAN HAIR

Oh yes you better care! No, your hair doesn’t look better two days after washing. Dirty hair is covered in oil and shmoot from your pores leaking all over it. This weighs your hair down, dulls the color, and leaves you looking drab. Clean hair is light, it bounces, and has a nice shine to it like a newly waxed car. Clean your hair first and always use conditioner. [Shameless plug for www.BlowMei.co here.]

  1. BLOW YOURSELF DRY!

I know you all have tried it at least once and either loved it or just gave up entirely. No one likes a quitter. If that doesn’t motivate you, then I’m giving you my full support to dust it off and try again! Blow drying your hair gives your hair direction, helps it move more freely, and makes it shine as bright as you are! Most importantly, it gives you volume which every guy needs and almost never gets right (look at Beckham’s hair; that’s not a bottle of LA Looks right out of the shower. He used a blow dryer).

  1. HAIRSPRAY

It’s totes masc bro. If you haven’t already, you’d better make hairspray your friend because that is one step closer to Hair God status. Hairspray gives height and volume to finer hair textures, while providing hold and control for thicker hair textures. It’s literally the most versatile hair product out there. You can easily apply it to already dry hair to hold into place, or apply to damp hair before you blow dry to give stiffness and volume to your hair. Try it before you blow yourself dry. It will change your life!

There you have it. My three little, yet priceless, secrets to step up your hair game and channel that inner Hair God I know is in you. You’re on your own with those abs though (Gasp! OMG! I kinda am like Oprah).

Stay famous,

Michael
