Are you ready to see some of South Florida’s fiercest drag queens battle it out for a $5,000 grand prize?

The Ultimate Miami Drag Queen Competition is returning to Magic City Casino for its ninth season on Saturday, March 28, 2020 at 8:00PM Contestants will show off their talents, personalities and unique styles in this one-of-a-kind event.

Ultimate Miami, LLC was formed to promote, through competition, Miami’s outstanding eclectic composition of talent in various subsets in the fields of mixology, entertainment, and culinary arts. The company’s goal is to showcase rising stars that call Miami home and derive the essence of their skills from the experiences of their surroundings.

The evening will start off with a bang as the queens take the stage with their various talents that will include singing, dancing, and more than likely, flipping and tumbling. Contestants will then walk the runway in a signature outfit of their choice. These looks range from sexy and demure to totally outrageous. There are no rules or guidelines in this round and the contestants never cease to impress audiences with their sickening styles. Each drag queen will then have to answer a randomly selected question, written by audience members. At the end of the three rounds, a panel of judges will select a winner, and one lucky contestant will earn the title of “Ultimate Miami Drag Queen” and walk away $5,000 richer.

This year’s panel of judges will include transgender advocate Lauren Foster, WMIA radio personality Letty B., and society photographer Dale Stine.

Making a special appearance will be last year’s Ultimate Miami Drag Queen winner, Karla Croqueta. Also known as Josue Garcia, this bearded beauty instantly became the crowd favorite once she set foot on stage. With her beaming confidence and abundance of skills, Croqueta sang live during the talent portion and played to the audience with her Celia Cruz-inspired gown. She delivered an awe-inspiring performance and an actual tray of croquetas to the judges during her final strut down the runway. Talk about staying true to her name! She believes that staying true to herself is what helped her clench the winning title and the grand money prize, and she hopes this year’s queens will do the same.

Although this competition is about the contestants, the audience will also enjoy performances from headlining entertainers. Past headliners have included RuPaul’s Drag Race contestants Shangela, Sharon Needles, Jinkx Monsoon, Vanessa Vanjie Mateo, and Adore Delano.

Let’s meet this year’s headliners!

Chad Michaels

As one of the world’s premier Cher impersonators, Chad Michaels became a prominent name within the LGBTQ community after coming in second on the fourth season of Drag Race and winning All Stars. With a career spanning over two decades, Chad has collaborated with some of Hollywood’s biggest names, including Cyndi Lauper, Gene Simmons, Elton John, Christina Aguilera, and even the diva herself, Cher. Chad currently produces and performs with the longest running female impersonation show in California, The Dreamgirls Revue, and travels extensively touring nationally and internationally as a proud representative of RuPaul’s Drag Race.

Eureka O’Hara

An advocate for body positivity, the larger-than-life Eureka O’Hara is a self-proclaimed “Elephant Queen” with plenty of charm and charisma. After leaving the ninth season of Drag Race early due to medical reasons, Eureka has been the only queen to be invited back to the competition by Mama Ru. Eureka gave a heart-stopping performance in season 10 and ultimately took second place. Eureka cites that iconic drag star Divine is an influence to their drag aesthetic.

Ada Vox

Not a contestant on Drag Race, but Ada Vox was the first ever drag queen to compete in American Idol and make it to the top 10. Lionel Richie called her “a movement unto herself” as she constantly wowed the judges, audience, and viewers. An unstoppable force, Ada is a songstress first and foremost with a tremendous vocal range. She will leave the audience reeling with her versions of Radiohead’s “Creep” and The Lion King’s “Circle of Life.”
