NSU’s Department of Communication, Media, and the Arts in the Halmos College of Arts and Sciences welcomes Jill Lavetsky for a guest artist exhibition, lecture and workshop in Gallery 217 in the Don Taft University Center on NSU’s Davie campus. An opening reception will take place on Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2022, from 5 to 7 p.m., and the exhibition will run through Tuesday, November 22, 2022. 

“Gallery 217 is proud to present this year’s solo exhibition “MERGE” by Jill Lavetsky,” said Kandy Lopez-Moreno, associate professor of Art + Design for the Department of Communication, Media, and the Arts. “Lavetsky is a South Floridian multimedia artist whose work features semi-abstract depictions of the human figure. Entangled bodies appear throughout her work to portray connection, love and grief, giving double meaning to the title of this exhibition.”

An artist talk with Lavetsky will take place during the opening reception from 6:15 to 6:45 p.m., and an artist workshop with Lavetsky will also take place from 12 to 1:30 p.m. The exhibition, artist talk and artist workshop are free and open to the public.

“My congratulations to the faculty and students who have worked hard to prepare this meaningful exhibition,” said Shanti Bruce, professor and chair of the Department of Communication, Media, and the Arts. 

Gallery 217 is located on the second floor of the Don Taft University Center on NSU’s Davie campus located at 3301 College Avenue, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33314. Gallery hours are Monday 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Tuesday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Wednesday 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Thursday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Friday 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
