This signature, outdoor Main Library event takes place on the grounds of the adjacent Fort Lauderdale Women’s Club, with the Stranahan Park gazebo as center stage.

Moonlight Tales is hosted by emcee Misty Eyez, a leading LGBTQ rights activist and entertainer, and features adult storytelling performances by Dr. Joel Ying and Chetter Galloway.

Guests will also enjoy live music from virtuoso jazz guitarist Martin Hand, leader of the Gold Coast Jazz Society Band, along with his fellow Gold Coast Jazz Society musicians, will perform love songs of the jazz world.

Physician-educator-storyteller Dr. Joel Ying enchants audiences with an eclectic collection of world folk tales and touching personal stories. Ying has performed at the Florida Storytelling Festival, Stone Soup Festival, Timpanogos
and to just about anyone who will listen. He teaches “Storytelling as Healing” at Florida Gulf Coast University and online workshops.

Virginia native Chetter Galloway grew up hearing his father tell stories on Sunday road trips. Galloway is a graduate of East Tennessee State University with a Master of Arts degree in Storytelling. He has performed at venues
such as the National Association of Black Storytellers Festival and the Smithsonian. He serves on the Board of Directors for Kuumba Storytellers of Georgia.
