Deliver the Dream, The Miami Dolphins and the National Cancer
Assistance Foundation will be hosting a virtual Tailgate Party to bring veterans and their
families together during the pandemic.
“Collaboration is key,” said Maureen Kohler, Development Director for Deliver the
Dream. “We help more families when we work together”. Deliver the Dream has been
partnering with the Miami Dolphins and the National Cancer Assistance Foundation on
Veteran’s programs since last year.
Paul DeBonis, Executive Director from The National Cancer Assistance Foundation is
interested in continuing his outreach efforts through organizations like Deliver the
Dream. “The opportunity to partner with organizations is key to fulfilling our mission and
making an impact in the community” stated DeBonis. “Our mission is to help make
South Florida healthier, educated and more united,” says Jason Jenkins, Miami
Dolphins Senior Vice President of Communications and Community Affairs. “We feel
that football can serve as a uniting force in our community and we are excited to partner
on events that salute and celebrate our veterans year-round.”
The intimate zoom gathering, The Virtual Tailgate Party, has been booked for weeks
and will kick off on July 30 th . Families will be led through a cooking demonstration and
craft project by Miami Dolphins Cheerleaders, as well as partake in Miami Dolphins
trivia and interact among the other families in attendance.
Participants will receive a pregame prep kit that includes everything needed to
participate in the tailgate party including a BBQ apron, a Publix gift card, craft supplies
and Miami Dolphins swag.
“Feelings of social isolation and depression has increased since the pandemic” says
Ms. Kohler. “This program will bring families together and give them an opportunity to
interact and connect with others in the same situation. And that is a very powerful
thing.”
