LGBTQIA+ Organizations Raised $688,812 at this year’s Give Miami Day

Miami, known for its vibrant culture, stunning beaches, and lively nightlife, is also a hub for diverse LGBTQIA+ organizations that play a crucial role in fostering inclusivity and support within the community. In fact, many LGBTQIA+ organizations were front and center at this year’s Give Miami Day, hosted by The Miami Foundation, November 16, 2023. More than 1000 organizations across Miami-Dade County came together for what has become Miami’s most important day of giving. The 12th annual event was the boldest to date, raising a total of $34.1 million from 96,000 donations!

This year, there was a record 62 organizations that focus primarily on serving the LGBTQIA+ community, and all told, they raised $688,812.

Here’s how a few organizations you know did:

 Yes Institute: raised a total of $35,624.

The Alliance for LGBTQ Youth: raised a total of $13,398.

 Safe Schools South Florida: won the Show Us Your TikTok #DonationDance award of $1,500 and raised a total of $12,621.

Out My Closet: raised a total of $4,750.

TransSOCIAL: raised a total of $2,014.

“Give Miami Day 2023 was an exceptional day with 46,619 people stepping up to say they care about Miami so much that they were willing to share a part of their own treasure for the greater good,” said Miami Foundation board chair, Sheldon Anderson, CEO of Grove Bank and Trust.  “Each and every donor has just empowered community nonprofits, plus their employees, to move boldly into the next year fueled to face whatever the year ahead brings. The success of Give Miami Day is a testament to Rebecca Fishman Lipsey’s bold leadership and The Miami Foundation’s staff who are steadfast in their commitment and enthusiasm for its mission.”

And remember, your support goes beyond financial contributions; it becomes a statement of solidarity in creating a more equitable and accepting community.

So mark your calendar for Give Miami Day 2024 – the Thursday before Thanksgiving – where you can step up to support LGBTQAI+ organizations about which you are passionate!
