Latinos Salud – Wilton Manors | LatinosSalud.org
Get ready to join one of the area’s most popular annual events. On Friday, October 18, 2024, South Florida’s premier community-based health clinic, Latinos Salud, will host its 12th annual Hispanic Heritage Food Bazaar.
Each year, the event draws 300 community members who savor homemade foods from a dozen different countries in the Hispanic diaspora, while also enjoying entertainment and dancing under the stars, right in the back parking lot at Latinos Salud’s Wilton Manors location.
This isn’t a food truck event or a food festival with restaurants selling samples. The dishes at the Food Bazaar are prepared from the heart by the staff and members of Latinos Salud, who also create their own decorations and costumes, vying to win the judges’ nod for the contest prizes each year.
You might know the huge impact that Latinos Salud has had on community health. In addition to their award-winning work in HIV prevention and testing, Latinos Salud’s rapid responses to the COVID-19, monkeypox, and meningitis outbreaks protected thousands in our local LGBT population. Latinos Salud was often the first clinic in each county to secure and deploy vaccines, which it offers (with appointment) throughout its operating hours until 9 PM nightly.
The agency’s friendly staff have also initiated over 5,000 community members on PrEP – the pill (or injection) that prevents HIV. The agency’s Wellness Navigators help patients navigate insurance or get free medication through patient assistance programs. The agency even pays the monthly health insurance premiums for hundreds of its patients in greatest financial need.
The Food Bazaar allows community members to enjoy a memorable night on the town and support the agency’s vital health programs at the same time. Each year, Latinos Salud’s Food Bazaar event kicks off the fundraising season for the agency. As a beneficiary of AHF’s Florida AIDS Walk, all funds collected at the Food Bazaar and other events earn a match, helping the agency to offer more free community health education, screening, PrEP, vaccinations, and healthcare.
The Hispanic Heritage Food Bazaar is open to all, and Latinos Salud is holding regular tickets at just $15 for food and entry, with VIP tickets at just $25, including more drink coupons.
Advance registration gets you in the door fast, so you can dive into delectable cuisine, see old friends, and make new ones.
Ticketing opens in early October.
