Advocates Worldwide Unite to Commemorate World AIDS Day

Advocates worldwide united to commemorate World AIDS Day (WAD) under the timely theme – “It’s Not Over” – to inspire a renewed sense of urgency and purpose in the decades-long fight to end AIDS, support people living with HIV, and honor all those who have lost their lives to AIDS-related illnesses.

We invite you to watch the inspirational WAD recap video above featuring events from 45 AHF country teams and their partners who tested over 25,200 people for HIV and distributed nearly 1.3 million free condoms. Together, we can look back at the progress we made in the HIV/AIDS response while remembering that “It’s Not Over” and carrying on the fight!

AHF kicked off World AIDS Day in style in the U.S. with a star-studded free concert at the iconic Kennedy Center in Washington D.C., featuring Grammy Award-winning superstars Patti LaBelle and Gladys Knight, who delivered riveting performances to a packed house! Princess Diana was also honored posthumously with the AHF Lifetime Achievement Award for her longtime dedication to ending AIDS.

Advocates also commemorated WAD with powerful nationwide “Greediad” protests targeting Gilead offices in D.C.Miami, and Oceanside (CA) over its harmful policies and drug pricing. Other U.S. WAD actions included the AIDS Walk Atlanta 5k & Music Festival and an event at the Harmony Gold Theater in the heart of Hollywood, CA with AHF Affinity Groups!
