As we welcome 2024, it’s not just about celebrating a new year; it’s about embracing the endless possibilities for positive change, especially for the LGBTQ+ community. At SunServe, where I serve as Vice President of Programs, we see every new year as an opportunity to deepen our impact and expand our reach.

This year, we’re focusing on tangible actions and measurable outcomes. Our services, some of which include mental healthcare, housing support, youth programs and senior care, are more than just offerings—they are lifelines for many in our community. We’re particularly proud of the services we provide for the transgender community at a time when their identities are under attack from community and elected leaders.  Also, our substance use disorder programming is proving to be transformative for countless individuals.

In 2024, we’re not just continuing our work; we’re elevating it. We’re enhancing our educational services to empower more people, and we’re expanding our capacity to house more homeless youth, recognizing the increased needs within our community.

A significant highlight of this year is our participation in the Florida AIDS Walk. Thanks to the AIDS Healthcare Foundation’s generous promise to double every donation, each contribution to our team will have double the impact. As we step into 2024, we’re reminded of the hurdles we’ve overcome and the progress we’ve made. Yet, we’re acutely aware of the challenges that lie ahead. Our commitment is unwavering: to continue fighting for equality, to break down barriers, and to build a community where every person can thrive.

This new year symbolizes hope—not just in words, but in action. At SunServe, we’re dedicated to turning this hope into reality, for every person we serve. Together, we can make 2024 a landmark year for progress, inclusion, and empowerment.
