Drag me on a CRUISE!

In the next 18 months, I will be your host around the world! In a few special cases, even Jennifer McClain or Rick Leonard are joining me!

Why cruise? There are a lot of advantages to taking a cruise, especially if you live at the first port of call, like Fort Lauderdale or the surrounding area. I always recommend cruising (on a ship . . . get your mind out of the gutter) because it helps to present a sampling of areas of the world! If you enjoy the sample that you experience, you can always plan an extended trip back, solely at that port. If you hate the port, guess what? In most cases, you leave that day and you’re on to the next.

Prior to these impending itineraries, I have cruised on my own many times with Norwegian, Royal Caribbean, and Princess Cruises. I prefer these lines for their on-board pace, programming, and cleanliness of ships. For this reason, I am so excited to share several groups I am working with in the coming year and half that offer a variety of different experiences for the LGBTQIA+ community, and our allies!

Adventure Bears:

The group I will be traveling most with is Adventure Bears. This is a queer owned and run travel group, based in Wilton Manors, that welcomes travelers of all kinds. Though most of the people on the trips are members of the bear community and male, we have seen several straight allies travel with this group as well as female members of the queer community.

Bambusa Restaurant travel!

This is a west coast of Florida venue I have been performing at for more than half a decade, in and out of pants! This is a great community of loving people who welcome you from any walk of life, straight, bisexual, or gay. The age range with this group will also be a wide range and will feature me with Rick Leonard on piano in a scripted cabaret performance and all-request piano bar style show.

They do a tremendous amount of charity work here in South Florida as well as programming for locals, like Bowling with the Bears, Fur Friday meet up, and various pool parties.

Island City Travel:

While the ad you may see for this New Year’s Eve cruise features a queer couple, the agency itself serves families of all walks of life. Based in Wilton Manors, Mark Strauss is our leader and travel agent. This group offers great pricing options for those who don’t want to spend a large sum of money and/or travel for a long period of time. They also offer up unique experiences, like New Years Eve at sea with a vibrant and diverse community on board!

While some of these itineraries, hosts, and their locations are always subject to change, I encourage you to consider getting out of Dodge and exploring the world with me and some of the best performers in town. Each experience is meant to be a little different both in location and content! Several of the groups are currently offering deposit specials for early bird booking, so make sure to check out all of these amazing South Florida led trips.

A dear friend of mine used to say, “don’t just think outside of the box, live there”. It’s a great time to travel!!

Lipstick Lightening Q & A

Q. When did you know you wanted to be in show business?

A. I was in 5th grade, a musical called “Clowns” (which is ironic because later in life I grew to really fear and hate clowns). I had a solo and I remember the practice, the process, and then the fulfillment of the performance. I was hooked.

Q. Dog or cat person?

A. 4 years ago I would have said dog and only dog. But my sweet Miss Miss found me and I cannot imagine life without her cat charm.

Q. What is a role you would love to play?

A. Mama Rose in Gypsy!

Q. Hidden talent?

A. I can crochet quite well.

Q. Favorite restaurant for a date night in Wilton?

A. 9F.

Q. Favorite actor/actress?

A. Male identifying: Robin Williams, Female identifying: Jessica Lange

Q. Favorite television show?

A. It’s off the air now, but HBO has it. The West Wing.

Q. Dare I ask how old a lady is?

A. Proudly turning 40 this September. After that, the answer will be a change of subject.

Q. Hardest part about filming a movie?

A. Non-sequential scene shooting. I think we shot the end of the film on the 4th day. Then another part of the opening sequence on the 6th day. It was wild and hard to get my theatrical head around.

Q. Last movie you watched?

A. It was “Michael” starring John Travolta and I was on an airplane coming home!
