Celebrate Juneteenth at the Arsht Center

The Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County (@arshtcenter) is proud to present the return of the JUNETEENTH JUKE JOINT, a celebration of Black freedom and culture on June 14. The dance party kicks off with a mix of pan-African beats by DJ SHACIA PÄYNE MARLEY (@shaciapayne) and, back by popular demand, world-renowned saxophonist, producer and composer MELTON MUSTAFA, JR. aka MUSTAFA ON SAX (@mustafaonsax) will set the vibes with his signature jazz sound.

JUNETEENTH JUKE JOINT is for audiences ages 18 and over. Guests are encouraged to arrive as soon as doors open at 6:30 p.m. to enjoy a specially curated happy hour menu featuring delicious, soul food-inspired bites and libations for those 21 and over.

Tickets to the JUNETEENTH JUKE JOINT are available for $35* and may be purchased now at arshtcenter.org, or at the Arsht Center box office by calling (305) 949-6722.

The JUNETEENTH JUKE JOINT is made possible with the support of presenting sponsor Bank of America.

JUNETEENTH JUKE JOINT pays homage to the rich history of Black music, culture and food in the American South. For generations, our country’s “second Independence Day” has been celebrated with gatherings, cookouts, music, laughter and pride in Black freedom.

The Juneteenth holiday commemorates the effective end of slavery, when federal troops arrived in Galveston, Texas on June 19, 1865 to free enslaved people.

The JUNETEENTH JUKE JOINT is part of the Arsht Center’s The Heritage Project, which was created with a commitment to promote social equality and amplify Black voices. The Arsht Center celebrates Black artists throughout our community through The Heritage Project’s salon series, Heritage Fest and other special events all year long.
