A Truly Unique Dining Experience
By Steven O. Evans, PhD
Someone once said, “Don’t just eat. Dine.” And that is true at Truluck’s Seafood, Steak and Crab House located at the Galleria at Fort Lauderdale.
I had the pleasure of dining there, personally. Let me first reveal a truth about myself that was penned by a well-known celebrity, “I love bread.” If you have just the garlic bread at Truluck’s, you’ll go home happy. “Melt in your mouth,” does not begin to describe these little drops of heaven. Light, airy, and just the right amount of garlic and butter, you’ll be tempted to make these morsels your entire meal.
Voila! If you favor a drink with flair and pizazz (who doesn’t?), order this uber unique drink of dry ice vapor, vodka, cava, Chambord, pineapple juice, and raspberries. That’s right, dry ice. The flavorful mix is light and refreshing, but the presentation is one you’ll want to Snap, Insta, and tweet. Send a video to your family back home or that cute guy you’ve been flirting with for months. Even better, bring him and dazzle him with this frothy libation.
Start your meal with the Lobster Bisque. You haven’t had this dish before, until you have tried it here. The other appetizer not to miss is Truluck’s Salt & Pepper Calamari. Not the typical, this crisp dish is served with sweet Vietnamese chili sauce.
If you go, go for the stone crab. Cracked and ready to eat, this delicacy is one you’ll talk about with your friends. You can’t go to a seafood restaurant and not try their house specialty. Choose from medium, large, or jumbo size crab claws. I know you’ll go for the jumbo. Go big, or go home. The dipping sauce is a house recipe created to complement the rich flavors of the crab.
The Chef’s Filet is an excellent choice to order. If the two of you share it with the crab, you will have a fabulous surf and turf dinner. Since I was raised on a cattle farm in Kentucky, a good steak is the prime focus of a meal (pun intended). Medium rare is the only way to go – tender, full of flavor, and cooked to perfection.
If you’re not stuffed, yet, select the Chocolate Bag Cake. It’s a unique blend of chocolate malt icing, macerated berries, and warm chocolate sauce. Or want to take that new boy out for a quick get-to-know-ya date? He’ll be impressed with just coffee and dessert at Truluck’s. The atmosphere is just right for conversation.
Due to popular demand for its incredible dining, service and atmosphere, Truluck’s recently launched lunch service. Now, you can fulfill that craving for the restaurant’s signature seafood and steak dishes, daily from 11:30AM to 3:00PM. For those seeking a quick in-and-out, Truluck’s also offer a power punch three-course meal for $30.
Life is short. Treat yourself. Make your dates, afternoons, and dinners divine. And add Truluck’s as one of these experiences.
