South Florida International Fashion Week kicks off Sept. 24 in Miami, the first of six events in six South Florida cities that includes Boca Raton and Davie.
One of the week’s highlights will be the Sept. 27 event at the renowned Design Center of the Americas in Dania Beach. For the first time, DCOTA will serve as a signature venue for the week, which benefits the Fashion for a Cause Foundation. The foundation uses fashion as a vehicle to raise funds and awareness for other charity organization and at the same time showcase emerging fashion designers.
The DCOTA event, which begins at 6:30PM and is open to the public, will feature four fashion designers, each of whom will use interior and exterior fabrics in their designs.
Each designer has been paired with one showroom and charged with choosing a “destination’’ for inspiration, conceptualizing a garment made out of these unconventional upholsteries and materials, and producing a look that appropriately represents their showroom’s brand and concept narrative. This DCOTA destination-themed collective will be exhibited during the cocktail hour and modeled during the fashion show.
DCOTA’s showrooms supporting the South Florida International Fashion Show evening include DEDON, ROMO, Duralee, Cowtan & Tout, Kravet, Lee Jofa, Brunschwig & Fils, Quadrille, Schumacher, Holly Hunt, David Sutherland, Donghia, and Sherle Wagner International.
“I think that it’s important to find causes that are aligned with what your organization represents and what your personal missions are,’’ said Taylor Cinalli, Director of Marketing at DCOTA. “We are obviously very geared to supporting the arts and culture, and the design world really crosses over into those worlds more than people think.’’
Ticket Prices for the event are $35 per person, which includes a cocktail hour reception from 6:30PM to 8:00PM as well as general seating at the show. A VIP ticket is $60 per person, which includes the cocktail reception and front row seating.
