Fort Lauderdale’s Symphony of the Americas’ Music Director, Pablo Mielgo, Conducts the United Nations Human Rights Council Ensemble 10TH Anniversary Performance

Symphony of the Americas’ Music Director Pablo Mielgo serves as Music Director for the United Nations Ensemble, leading this performance on December 10, 2023, in Geneva Switzerland, at the United Nations Palais des Nations. This year marks the celebration of the 75th Anniversary of the Founding of the Human Rights Council, as well as the 10th Anniversary performance of the Human Rights Concerts. Dignitaries from around the world will be present.

“I’m honored to have a long term association with the United Nations and to be part of their great creators delegation. I’m also thrilled to represent Symphony of the Americas at this global forum,” commented Pablo Mielgo.

“This is a rare and unique opportunity, bringing international, national, regional, and local visibility to Pablo Mielgo and Symphony of the Americas,“ says Steven Haines, Executive Director of Symphony of the Americas. “Mielgo, as Symphony of the Americas Music Director, represents the region on a global scale. His artistic leadership of The Symphony, along with his role at the United Nations brings substantial credibility to Broward County and beyond.”

Steven Haines will attend the United Nations for this gala concert and event representing Symphony of the Americas and the Florida Region.

The Human Rights Ensemble is comprised of members from the five habitable continents of the world (similar to the Olympics) – The Americas, Asia, Africa, Europa and Oceania.

Symphony of the Americas Music Director Pablo Mielgo will conduct the 2023 U.N. Ensemble composed of Musicians from Austria, Germany, Russia, Egypt, Spain, South Africa, Ukraine, Serbia, Brazil, Portugal, Japan, China, Switzerland, and the United States.

Joining the ensemble are sopranos Nadine Sierra, world-renown opera mega-star and a Fort Lauderdale native, and South Africa’s Pretty Yende, who has risen to the top of the opera world with unparalleled speed after performing at King Charles III Coronation.

Mielgo, Music Director of Symphony of the Americas, has led the majority of United Nations Human Rights Ensemble performances and is one of the United Nations’ and Onuart Foundation’s “great creators.”

The Human Rights Chamber, which is first and foremost traditionally reserved for diplomats for the sake of human rights and peace, is reserved for one night annually to Pablo Mielgo for global peace through arts and music.

“Music is the only language in the world which can be spoken in peace and understanding by all” – Juan Antonio March, President of the Onuart Foundation and a Spanish Ambassador.
