If you’ve ever seen the Fooz Fighters live, you know it’s not just another tribute band. From the raw energy onstage to their incredible ability to channel the essence of the legendary Foo Fighters, this group delivers an experience that keeps fans returning for more. Their drummer, BOLL3T, a seasoned musician with over two decades of experience, recently shared insights into the experience of bringing the music of one of rock’s greatest bands to life.
Fans will get the chance to experience their high-energy show firsthand at their upcoming performance on March 22, 2025, at the Rose & Alfred Miniaci Performing Arts Center. This is a must-see event for devoted Foo Fighters fans and rock ‘n’ roll lovers, promising an electrifying night of music and an unforgettable tribute to one of rock’s greatest bands.
The Fooz Fighters have been rocking stages for a decade, but BOLL3T joined the band in 2019. With a deep love for music, he spent over 20 years playing with various original artists and working on his solo projects. But when the opportunity arose to join the Fooz Fighters, it was an easy decision.
“I’ve always loved the music of the Foo Fighters and Dave Grohl. His drumming from back in the Nirvana days was a huge inspiration to me,” he said. “When I was invited to join by the former guitarist, Alan Sosa, I was thrilled. I already knew about 70% of their setlist, so it was a natural fit.”
One of the biggest challenges of being a tribute band is capturing the authenticity of the original artists, and the Fooz Fighters take this responsibility seriously.
“All the songs are so high-energy that you have to give it 100%,” BOLL3T explained. “That’s a big part of Dave Grohl’s personality, and the songs are written that way. There’s really only one way to perform them—full power.”
The band stays true to the recorded versions of the songs while also bringing the energy and excitement of a live Foo Fighters show, making each performance feel authentic and electrifying.
“We like to play the songs mostly like the record, but with a twist that reflects their live shows. Sometimes, we add a small spin of our own, but nothing too drastic because every musician naturally brings their unique touch.”

The band was founded in 2015 in San Diego by two lifelong Foo Fighters fans, guitarist Brent Wright and lead vocalist Nick Estrada, who wanted to play the music they loved. Their passion turned into a thriving tribute band that has grown in popularity over the past decade. They play nationwide, bringing Foo Fighters fans together for an excellent and upbeat experience.
“It all started because we’re fans,” BOLL3T said. “There was no other reason. We just love the music, and now we get to share it with people who feel the same way.”
In a tribute band, it’s not just about playing the music—it’s about embodying the spirit of the original members. Capturing the energy and stage presence of the Foo Fighters takes a blend of dedication and natural instinct, ensuring every performance feels as authentic and electrifying as the real thing.
“In general, we try to keep the style and aesthetic true to the Foo Fighters, from clothing to stage movements. Our lead singer, he’s fantastic. He channels Dave Grohl like no other I’ve ever seen. People are mesmerized by his performances.”
BOLL3T explained that while most of the Foo Fighters’ songs were recorded by the late Taylor Hawkins, his drumming style blends Hawkins’ and Grohl’s approaches.
“My drumming is probably more ‘Grohl-ish,’ if you will, mixed with elements of Josh Freese, the current drummer. I try to stay true to the sound, but at the end of the day, every musician puts their own spin on things,” said BOLL3T.
With such an extensive set list, it raises the question: What’s the most challenging Foo Fighters song to play live?
“For me personally, none of them are necessarily difficult,” he admitted with a smile. “The challenge comes more from maintaining the intensity and energy throughout the entire set. The Foo Fighters songs are relentless, and you have to keep up the momentum from start to finish.”
What sets the Fooz Fighters apart is their genuine love for the music. They aren’t just playing these songs—they’re living them, night after night, for fans who share their passion.
“We don’t need a lot of research because we’ve been fans for so long. The Foo Fighters’ style is so ingrained in us that it just comes naturally. There’s no elaborate stage production or gimmicks, just pure, high-energy rock ‘n’ roll.”
Their dedication and deep appreciation for the Foo Fighters help the tribute band continue to surprise and excite audiences. Whether you’re a longtime Foo Fighters fan or new to their music, catching the Fooz Fighters live is the next best thing to the real deal.
