Each age group faces unique consumer challenges. In our 30’s and 40’s we are buying homes for the first time and need to understand how to obtain a mortgage, home insurance (which is especially challenging for Floridians), and maintain and repair roofs, appliances, and maintain a lawn.

In our late 40’s and 50’s we begin to focus more time and resources on retirement planning. How do I save money, what are the best investment options, and where do I find a good financial planner?
In our 60’s and 70’s we adapt to living on a set income and become targets for scammers who want to rob us of our nest egg we spent a lifetime collecting.
Surprisingly, Generation Z has become a target for scams and fraud, even more so than the older population. Gen Z has grown up in the digital world and is more open to sharing and spending more time online. For the second year in a row, the BBB Scam Risk report found that this age group suffered the most losses to scam. Gen Z also faces challenges renting cars, finding legitimate jobs to work at home, financing a college education (i.e. student loans), renting an apartment, and many other “first time” experiences.
Each generation has unique marketplace challenges and the BBB is here to provide guidance and assistance. Doing a little research on BBB.org and looking for the Sign of a Better Business can help avoid scams and find trustworthy businesses.
I also want to take a moment to wish a Happy Pride to the LGBTQ+ community, businesses, and our allies. Each generation of our community has unique experiences, stories, and achievements. Together, we continue to build a better future for our community.
HAPPY PRIDE
