Just like a Quinceañara celebrates coming of age with a night of color, dance, and song, at 15 years old, the local HIV/STD non-profit, Latinos Salud, has certainly grown up from its modest start in a small space on Wilton Drive.
Today, Latinos Salud offers so much more than its core services of prevention education, condoms, and testing. Under the leadership of its founding directors, Dr. Stephen Fallon and Rafaelé Narváez, in just the past three years, the agency has launched a new Youth Services program, a Health & Culture program, and Pride Scholarships. With each of these programs, Latinos Salud is building the community leaders of tomorrow.
The agency has also closed the gap in equitable access to everything from PrEP (the pill, or injection, that prevents HIV) to COVID-19 vaccines, to health insurance.
Now with four South Florida locations, serving well over 10,000 LGBTQ community members each year, Latinos Salud has certainly come into its own. Their staff are bi-lingual, certified, super friendly, and here to help everyone. That’s a lot to celebrate.
Latinos Salud will commemorate their 15th anniversary milestone by inviting the community to two Gala events. The Broward Quinceañara event will kick off on Saturday, January 13th with a VIP reception up on the seaside rooftop at the Westin Ft. Lauderdale Beach Resort, starting at 6 PM. Entry to the main event for everyone begins at 7 PM with a full plated dinner, open bar, live music, silent auction, and surprises.
The Broward event’s theme colors will be pink and crystal, traditional for a Quinceañara and a 15th anniversary, respectively. Come dressed in crystal, pink, or both! Or you can just choose a splash of pink or crystal to accentuate your outfit: a pocket square, tie, or even your socks. Whether holding VIP or regular tickets, this Gala will kick off 2024 in high style.
VIP ticket holders will also receive a “benefit in a box,” personally delivered before the event to their home or office, with tasty goodies and fun swag. They’ll also get free valet parking, and access to two additional special plated dinner options.
The agency’s second Gala opportunity on Saturday, February 10th has its own special theme: “The Reveal.” This will be a more intimate event, held in the agency’s upgraded space in Miami’s SW (the address will be announced soon). The Miami Gala will open with an outdoor party leading to a grand welcome to the agency’s new, large SW location, just renovated with all the style that visitors are used to encountering each time they enter any other Latinos Salud location.
Like a big backyard family party leading to an opulent toast, “The Reveal” will feature passed hors d’oeuvres, live music, and dancing, plus a front-row chance to tour the new space and meet the agency’s growing staff.
Everyone who attends will feel the kindness, energy and passion of this dedicated agency.
