Wilton Art® Partners with Funding Arts Broward (FAB!) to Announce a New Innovative Public Art Installation in Wilton Manors

What would bring you outside when it rains?

Wilton Art® in partnership with Funding Arts Broward (FAB!) is pleased to announce a new innovative public art installation in Wilton Manors…that disappears and reappears depending on the weather. Sidewalks at prominent locations in Wilton Manors become the next canvas for WiltonArt’s® new community-based visual arts project letitrain.2022.

On October 8, 2022, residents, volunteers, artists, school children, families, and members of our organization are invited to a Community Workshop with Artist and WiltonArt® Board Member, Lori Pratico, to engage in a hands-on creation of stencils that will then be used to paint city sidewalks, recreational parks, and other high-traffic areas throughout the city. The event will include a brief presentation on the history of stencil art, the different techniques used to make stencil art, and how stencils have been used for street art since the 1970’s. Lori will then be joined by fellow artists that will guide participants in selecting images and cutting them into stencils. The event will take place at the Island City Cultural Center, 600 NE 21st Court, Wilton Manors, FL 33305 from 1:00-3:00PM.

On November 5, 2022, we will come together for the final installation at various locations throughout Wilton Manors, including the Shoppes at Wilton Manors, Hagen Park Community Center, Wilton Manors City Hall, and Wilton Manors Elementary School.

What makes letitrain.2022 so unique is that these images will only come to life when they are wet with water. We will use non-toxic and environmentally friendly “invisible paint” for this installation. The stencils for the project will be based on the themes of nature, humor, inspiration, and equality – themes present in previous WiltonArt® projects. This project will transform the mindset of a rainy day into a joy-filled day that brightens the mood for all who see it. The designs will last between 3-6 months, depending on the weather.

Complete letitrain.2022 updates and details may be found on our website at https://www.WiltonArt.org.
