Bailey Contemporary Arts (BaCA) is proud to present Sheer Intuition, a solo exhibition of works created by renowned South Florida fiber artist and educator Andrea Huffman, where translucent fabrics act as a metaphor for seeing what lies beneath a facade. The award-winning artist will also participate in an Artist Talk and host a Fabric Fusion Workshop. Her work will be on view in the West Gallery from October 4 through November 29, 2019. The FREE opening reception is Friday, October 4 from 6-10:00PM during Old Town Untapped. BaCA is located at 41 NE 1st Street, Pompano Beach, FL 33060. For more information, visit

“As an artist and art educator, Andrea has served as a valuable resource of instruction for our area’s teen artists and craft makers of all ages,” said Phyllis Korab, Cultural Affairs Director. “We are fortunate to have her as one of our Artists in Residences at BaCA, where through her work, she inspires conservation, sustainability, and preservation of our natural Florida environment.”

Huffman’s work merges various media, including drawing, painting, printmaking, and digital imagery, with machine and hand stitching to embellish each image. “Currently I’m in the process of designing textiles for the home as well as for clothing and accessories, moving beyond the walls of the gallery to a wider retail market,” said Huffman. “My pieces are hand-dyed and printed, one-of-a-kind, original pieces.

Huffman has received several awards for her work and has been included in local, state, and national exhibits, including “Piecing Together A Changing Planet” which traveled to ten National Parks and Historic Monuments over a three-year period.
